JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was taken to the hospital after a near drowning Saturday evening on the Westside has died.
It happened outside a residence on Deepwood Court, off Ricker Road, at about 6 p.m. Police were on scene for about an hour investigating.

Jacksonville police said James Dixon, 52, was taken to the hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.
Investigators said it appears alcohol was a factor, and that Dixon had been drinking.
The incident is believed to be an accident and no foul play is suspected.
