JACKSONVILLE – More than 65,000 Jacksonville voters have already made their choices in the races for mayor and sheriff, ahead of the May 19th election.
Sunday, 2,253 voters cast a ballot at one of 18 early voting sites around the city, bringing the total for the first week to 26,204. After the first week of early voting before the March election, 18,257 people had voted.

In addition, the Supervisor of Elections has received and verified 39,020 vote-by-mail ballots.
Between both types of early voting, 65,224 votes have been cast, bringing voter turnout close to 12 percent.

Democrats have a slight edge over Republicans in early voting turnout. Elections officials say 28,913 Democrats have voted, compared to 28,813 Republicans. In addition, 7,529 other voters have cast a ballot.
Early voting continues through Sunday, May 17th. No early voting will be held on Monday, May 18th.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day, May 19th.
