Ebony Wilkerson bonds out of Volusia County jail

Mother accused of trying to kill children by driving van into ocean.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The mother accused of trying to kill her children by driving into the Atlantic Ocean walked out of the Volusia County jail late Friday night.

Ebony Wilkerson is charged with three counts of attempted murder and child abuse after prosecutors say she intentionally drove her van into rough surf in Daytona Beach back in March.

Wilkerson was being held on $1.2 million bail, but a judge lowered that to $90,000 during a court hearing Thursday.

Wilkerson told the court she was back to her "normal self" and was taking medication daily. She had just recently been brought back to the Volusia County jail after giving birth to her fourth child while in custody. That child is now with her father. The three other children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

As part of the conditions of her release, Wilkerson has to stay in Volusia County, must see a psychiatrist, and have no contact with her children.
