Henry S. Kite Elementary School locked down as precaution after gunfire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Shots fired three blocks from a Jacksonville elementary school forced a lock down of the school Friday afternoon, police said.

Henry S. Kite Elementary School was locked down because of "police activity."

Police said shots were fired in the area of 9241 Second Ave.

When officers arrived, they found several gun casings in the roadway, but t they could not find a victim with a gunshot wound, police said. 

Several people were seen running south into the woods on Second Avenue.

Police said the school was locked down within minutes of the incident, as a precaution.
