At 11:10, officials found the plane on a dirt road which circles a large retention pond just west the Nocatee Town Center.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue said the pilot was uninjured, no homes were threatened, and the plane, a single-engine Cessna, had no damage.

The pilot told investigators he is an aircraft mechanic and was taking the plane for test flight after completing work on planes engine.

On the way back to the St. Augustine Airport he told investigators the engine lost oil pressure and he had to land.

Investigators said the pilot was flying alone.
