JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A former Jacksonville Sheriff's Office corrections officer has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography.
Leon Perry Brooks Sr., 41, was also ordered to register as a sex offender and to serve a five-year term of supervision following his prison term. A federal jury found Brooks guilty on Oct. 8, 2014.

According to evidence presented at trial, in January 2013, a JSO detective, serving on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, was able to download two videos depicting child pornography from an Internet Protocol address registered to Brooks. A search warrant was then executed at Brooks' home, which resulted in the seizure of several computers. Two of these computers contained multiple videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
