'Facepocolypse' Monday: Facebook is down
Millions of people around the world were struggling early Monday morning. No, it isn't the weather, issues at work or kid problems. Facebook wouldn't allow posts of status updates or photos for a few hours.
Many called it "Facepocolypse."
Downrightnow.com confirmed that Facebook was suffering from a server outage. While users could view their pages, but were unable to log into the popular social website or make changes.
By 9 a.m., some functionality had returned, including the ability for some people to post to business pages. However, commenting is still hit-or-miss and birthday wishes were not working.
By 11 a.m, all appeared to be back to normal.
Facebook responded to media queries about the cause of the outage with this statement: "Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused."
