Family worries week after Navy man disappeared

39-year-old last seen Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It's been nearly a week since 39-year-old Chief Petty Officer Kevin Williams disappeared without a trace.

His family is desperate to know what happened to him.

"We never thought in a million years this would happen to us. It's devastating, it's devastating," said Vanessa Williams, Kevin's wife. "I can't sleep, I can't think. I feel so sick, I feel so sad without him, and I know I have to go on for my two kids."

Williams was last seen Tuesday getting his car fixed here near the Avenues Mall. His wife said they had had an argument that day and the two parted ways and she hasn't seen him since.

His family describes him as a dedicated sailor, a loving husband, and father to his son and young daughter -- definitely not the type to just walk away.

"The fact that he's gone, I never though it'd happen," said Jamal Blythe, Williams' son. "I never thought I would be in front of a camera today. It's like you watch these stories all the time."

Vanessa Williams said that after she reported her husband missing, she was told that he used his debit card at the gas station across from the mall. She said it was after they had parted ways. Vanessa said the PIN number was used, and that really concerns her.

At this time, police say they don't suspect foul play in Williams' disappearance. His family prays someone who knows something will come forward. They say the worst part is not knowing.

"Maybe someone kidnapped him, maybe he bumped his head, maybe he needs help. But I'm not prepared for that news," Vanessa Williams said. "I need my husband's story to be out there. We need him, we love him, we're craving for him, we're hurting every day. I need him to come home. I need to know what happened."

Anyone who may know Williams' location is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
