FHP: Driver arrested, charged for pointing gun at another driver

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault Monday after pointing a handgun at another driver while driving down Interstate 75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report said Jeffrey Michael Duarte of Kissimmee was driving southbound on I-75 around 7:45 p.m. when the FHP received reports he was pointing a handgun at a semi-truck driver near the 417 mile marker.

FHP units chased Duarte's vehicle, a Nissan van, from Columbia County into Alachua County, catching up with him at mile marker 399.

FHP said Duarte had a handgun on his person and was taken into custody without incident.
