BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – One driver is in critical condition after two tractor-trailers crashed at a rest stop on Interstate 10 in Sanderson early Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 3:50 a.m. on the ramp from I-10 eastbound to a rest area before U.S. 90.

Christopher Baker, 38, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition.

Troopers said Baker was driving east on I-10 and began to exit into the driveway of the rest area, and the other big rig was stopped in the right shoulder of the exit ramp.

Troopers said the driver of the second big rig, 56-year-old Joy Beane, was found in the sleeper area of the cab and was trying to rest.

Baker's semi left the roadway for reasons still under investigation and struck the rear of the second trailer, troopers said.

They said the crash did not affect traffic flow on I-10.
