A Putnam County man beaten unconscious Monday evening is in the hospital in stable condition and the man accused of beating him is in jail facing several charges.
The Sheriff's Office responding just before 7 p.m. to a report of a beating at 120 Cherokee Street learned Johnnie Lloyd and Anthony Beahn got into an argument over a girlfriend, which escalated to a physical confrontation. The deputies were told that that Lloyd struck Beahn repeatedly in his face and head until he was unconscious.
Beahn was flown by air ambulance to UF Health Gainesville. As of Tuesday morning, Beahn was listed in stable condition.
Lloyd was located, arrested and charged with aggravated battery, driving while license suspended/revoked and violation of probation.
Lloyd was booked into the Putnam County jail and ordered held without bail.
Witnesses at the scene stated alcohol may have been a contributing factor, according to deputies.
