Fire destroys vacant home

Crews believe a person started fire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Fire and Rescue believe a person started the fire inside a vacant home in Northwest Jacksonville Sunday, around 7 p.m. Crews do not know if the fire was done on purpose or by accident.

The home is on West 6th Street near Myrtle Avenue. Crews said the fire started on the first floor, before it made its way up into the attic, then back down to the second floor of the home.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within minutes. They said the home was destroyed. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
