Firefighters rescue kittens from RV fire

1 dog, 2 cats perished at scene

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Firefighters from SJCFR's Central Battalion and the St. Augustine Fire Department quickly extinguished a recreational vehicle fire in the 4500 block of Avenue B, saving the lives of several kittens found inside.

The crew of Engine 12 was first on scene at approximately 9:15 a.m. and reported a 25-foot-long RV fully engulfed in flames.

While firefighters battled the blaze, crews entered the RV to rescue the kittens.

One dog and two cats were not as fortunate and perished on scene. No one was injured or displaced by the fire.

The vehicle was completely destroyed, and an SJCFR fire investigator is looking into the cause.
