Florida has among highest checking account fees

Findings from WalletHub.com study

Florida has some of the highest checking account fees in the nation, according to a new study released by WalletHub.com.

The study did not give statistics for individual states, but did look at fees by region.

Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia make up the Southeast region in the study. That region has fees averaging $54. The Midwest, by comparison, has fees averaging $44.

The study took into account monthly fees, minimum balances and overdraft charges.
