3 The headaches for Florida's unemployment system apparently continue. The recent launch of the system's connect website has been plagued with problems as state workers have been working around the clock to fix it. But channel 4's Scott Johnson spoke with an Arlington man who says the system is far from fixed. He joins us live. 3 He's had his hours slashed.... and almost no income. Now with bills rolling in everyday he fears his family will be homeless unless his unemployment check finally gets processed. 1:37:44 - things got slow, cut me down to two days, not it's one day every two weeks, every pay period.that sums up why chris richardson... and auto mechanic tried to sign up for unemployment...which has started to seem like an impossible task.1:38:10- they said I met every requirement in time i've put in and money i've put in to get a new claim and they said I would get it fixed. And I had to wait 2 weeks... 2 weeks later nothing happened, sent another email, I had to wait 2 weeks. and then he waited some more. 1:38:33 - 2 weeks, 2 weeks, 2 weeks... 'til now i'm 13 weeks, so richardson says after months of spending hours almost every day fighting the system he's gotten nowhere and that means no money.1:39:19 - after 2 weeks you're basically screwed because you can't afford to pay your bills no more.1:39:30 - we're behind on everything... rent, facing getting evicted. Take care of my elederly mom, she's behind on medication.3 kids. Can't afford to feed them. All because unempLOYMEN won't get claim taken care of. it's been an ongoing story statewide that the launch of the state's unempLOYMEnt website had problems... so we reached out to the state department of economic opportunity in tallahassee... that office runs And Richardson does say if he does get the unemPLOYMENt check it would cover his family's current overdue expenses... he just needs the check. Scott, is the unemployment check he's waiting on his family's only source of income?
