FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County Sheriff James Manfre announced Thursday he is seeking re-election.
"I have been humbled to have had the opportunity to serve as your Sheriff in this great county since January 2013, and before that from January 2000 to January 2005. Together we have been able to accomplish much, and by moving forward we can continue to accomplish a great deal more," said Manfre.

Manfre was under fire this summer after The Florida Ethics Commission voted 6-1 to find probable cause he violated the state's ethics laws on three counts.
The issues rose from several out-of-state trips Manfre took in Sheriff's Office vehicles, accepting a gift over $100 in value by staying at a Tennessee condominium and use of a county credit card to buy personal items.
Manfre disputed all charges, saying he violated no laws, rules or procedures.
He addressed the ethics investigation in a letter he released to the media to announce his re-election.

Manfre said he is asking the Florida Administrative Law Judge to hear the case and intends to fight the charges all the way to a court of appeal, if necessary.
Two other candidates have already filed to run for Flagler County Sheriff.
Republican Jerry O'Gara was the first candidate to file earlier this year. He spent 20 years working in the City of New York Department of Corrections, according to his campaign website.
Rick Staly, who retired as the Flagler County undersheriff in April, also filed to run as a Republican.
