Florida Black Expo Returns To Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Each year, the Florida Black Expo gets bigger and this year is no exception.

Gospel artist Vickie Winans will host a $11,000 Florida Gospel Best Competition.

Actress LisaRaye McCoy and Actor Laz Alonso will make an appearance and sign autographs.

Jacksonville?s Mayor Alvin Brown and CNN Political analyst Jamal Simmons will host a panel discussion on ?Broadband Internet: Connecting you to the jobs of tomorrow.?

R & B artists Noel Gourdin and Joe will close the show with performances.

There will be a health fair that will include free healthcare screenings.

New this year, A Taste of Jacksonville.

It will be held Friday, October 7 at the Garden Club of Jacksonville. This event will feature the culinary work of more than 25 Jacksonville?s chefs and bakers. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $35 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, go to A Taste Of Jacksonville. All proceeds will from this event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

The expo will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Tickets are $12 adult or $10 adult with 4 non-perishable food items. The food will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Admission for kids is $5 for children ages 5-12.
