Florida fails health care transparency

45 states failed health care transparency

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new study shows the state of Florida fails when it comes to health care transparency laws.  

The Orlando Business Journal reports, Catalyst for Payment Reform and Health Care Incentives Improvements looked at the laws of all 50 states.  Florida wasn't the only state to fail.  The majority of the country failed as well.

New Hampshire, Vermont, Colorado, Maine and Virginia were the only states to not receive failing grades.  New Hampshire received an "A"  Maine and Colorado both received a "B" and Virginia and Vermont received an "C."

This report comes less than a month after another study found Florida has 20 of the 50 U.S. hospitals that price-gouge patients the most.

According to a Florida District 28 representative, hospitals are looking at the idea where paying for hospital bills would be similar to that of paying a gym membership.
