FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - A wildfire that started this weekend in the area of State Road 100 on the Flagler-Putnam County line was 90 percent contained as of Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Forest Service.
The wildfire started as a prescribed burn on private land that got out of hand, said Ludie Bond of the Florida Forest Service.
As of about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Bond said, the fire had spread across 993 acres.
Bond said crews were widening contained land and working on hot spots.
There are no homes anywhere in the vicinity of the fire, but there will be smoke in the area for quite a while, according to forestry officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol urged drivers to use caution when traveling in the area, saying visibility may deteriorate quickly because of the conditions.
