Florida is the worst state to get into a car crash

WalletHub study finds

Florida is the worst state to get into a car crash, according to a WalletHub study. The study cites a high combination of uninsured drivers and minimal insurance requirements and calls the Sunshine State the riskiest state for drivers' wallets. 23.8 percent of drivers in Florida have no insurance at all, according to the study.

Florida's minimum liability coverage is also lower than many states. The minimum amount insurance companies cover per person involved in an accident is only $10,000 in Florida. The amount goes up to a $20,000 minimum for accidents involving multiple parties. Alaska, by comparison, those numbers are $50,000 and $100,000, according to WalletHub.

Florida state law does require personal injury protection insurance for all drivers. That's not a requirement in every state. Personal injury protection covers drivers and passengers in the car if its involved in a crash.

Maine was the least risky state for drivers, according to the study.
