Florida universities ranked among best in country

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As high school seniors start applying to colleges, U.S. News and World Report has published its annual list of college rankings.

Several Florida universities made the list, which is based on 16 factors tied to academic excellence.

Among regional universities in the Southeast, the University of North Florida ranked 51. UNF was also ranked 17 among the region's best colleges for veterans.

Jacksonville University ranked 73rd among regional universities in the Southeast.

Florida schools also ranked in the top 100 of top national universities.

The University of Florida ranked 48th, up one spot from last year. UF was tied with four other universities at that spot, including the University of Miami.

The University of Georgia ranked 62nd among national universities.

And Florida State University ranked 95th on the list.
