2 dead, 1 injured in Central Florida triple shooting

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Yellow crime scene tape and flashing lights is the last thing neighbors at the West Oaks Apartments expected to see on Christmas.

"I've been here for four years and this is the first I've seen something like this happen," said John Holladay, who lives in the complex. "I'm shocked. On Christmas day? That's really sad."

On Wednesday around 5:00 p.m., deputies say a man in his 30s came to a bottom floor apartment in the complex armed with a gun, intent on hurting someone inside.

"He was at the front door, knocked on it and then fired some rounds through that front door," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "When the door didn't open, he went to the window, fired some more shots into that window."

Deputies say two couples lived inside that apartment and the shooter knew one of the women who stayed there.

"He shot and killed one white male inside and shot another white male inside who was taken to ORMC in stable condition," said Hopkins.

Then, deputies say, the man turned the gun on himself, committing suicide before deputies arrived.

Investigators are still trying to figure out a motive. They say two of the people who lived at the apartment were blood relatives. Deputies haven't revealed how the two are related.

No names will be released until next of kin is notified.
