Alligator stops traffic after lunch

FWC helped capture gator to release it in safe location

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – An alligator briefly shut down Highway 441 in Alachua County on Monday as it crossed the road.

The High Springs Police Department posted video on its Facebook page of the 6-foot gator crossing after feeding on a deer carcass near Bev's Burgers in High Springs.

With the help of Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, police officers were able to capture the gator.

It will be relocated to a safe area away from the public.
