Police: Armed man sought after Gainesville gas station robbery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department are searching for a 23-year-old man after he robbed a gas station in Gainesville last Friday night.

Police said Korey Gunn is consider armed and dangerous.

Gunn robbed a Chevron gas station on University Avenue, which is about a mile west of the University of Florida campus, and then ran off, police said.

Gunn is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

The robbery prompted a UF Alert to be issued telling students to stay in place, police said.

About 30 minutes later when police cleared the scene, the university said there was no need for people to stay in place. 

Detectives are continuing to investigate leads to determine Gunn's whereabouts.
