The other driver, Lavonia D. Bishop, 52, suffered critical injuries. The Florahome woman was taken to a nearby hospital. She drove a Nissan Rogue, police said.

Neither Emmons, nor Bishop, had any passengers at the time.

Emmons was heading westbound about 6:45 p.m. when he drifted across the center line, and into Bishop’s path. The wreck took place about half a mile west of County Road 219A.

SR 26 reopened about 11:15 p.m.

Emmons was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said. Bishop was properly restrained, the FHP added.
