Troopers say a Kia driven by 26-year-old Lindsay Chance was heading east on U.S. 90 when it crossed the center line into the path of a log truck, hitting it head on.

The impact of the crash pushed the Kia and the truck into a ditch at the edge of the woods, where the Kia ended up under the truck.

The trailer of the truck then swung around and hit a second vehicle

Chance, a Lake City resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  There were no other injuries.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed that due to the investigation, debris and a fuel spill, they expected U.S. 90 to remain closed for hours.

Interstate 10 was used as an alternate route.
