Boy, 10, shot while riding bike in Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. - A 10-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle was hit by a stray bullet in Sanford.

Police say a man who was arguing with another man on Thursday night pulled out a gun and started shooting. Bullets struck the other man in the buttocks and the child was hit in the abdomen.

Sanford police spokesman Shannon Cordingly says the boy lost a lot of blood and was airlifted to Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando. She says the boy's mother was nearby when the shooting happened.

Police have questioned the man who was shot and are searching for the shooter.

Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith called the shooting "senseless."

Anyone with information about shooting is asked to call Sanford police.
