Burglar eats Sanford family's food, sleeps in house

$500 worth of jewelry also stolen from home

SANFORD, Fla. – A burglar broke into a Sanford home over the Christmas holiday and stayed at the residence, cooking the family's food and sleeping in the guest room, according to police.

Sanford police said the thief also drank some booze, took a bottle of Jack Daniels and stole about $500 worth of jewelry before leaving.

It's not known when the burglary occurred, but the couple told police they had left Dec. 21 for vacation and discovered the items missing when they returned a week later.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
