4-year-old pulled from pool Sunday dies at hospital

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. – A 4-year-old boy pulled from a pool Sunday in Keystone Heights died at UF Health Shands Gainesville, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The boy, identified as Ethan Brander, lives in Green Cove Springs, according to the police report.

The drowning was reported at a home on Timberlane Drive in Keystone Heights.

Friends described Ethan as a happy, smart and energetic boy.

This was the sixth drowning of a child in northeast Florida this year. Four of those have happened this month.

Tom's Real Pit BBQ in Keystone Heights will be hosting a benefit on Sunday for Ethan and his family at 4 p.m. on the back pavilion.

The restaurant will be providing a buffet for $10 a plate, with a percent of the proceeds going to Ethan's family.
