Motorcyclist killed in crash on SR-21 in Keystone Heights

FHP say pickup truck turned left in front of motorcycle

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. – A 65-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday night when his bike struck a pickup truck that was turning left at the intersection of State Road 21 and County Road 315C, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the rider, Gary Larson, of Jacksonville, was going north on S.R. 21 on a Honda VTX 1800 at 10 p.m. when a Ford F-150 driven by David Hathcox, 73, of Keystone Heights, going north turned into the motorcycle's path.

The rider died on the scene. Hathcox was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the pickup was also transported for minor injuries.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending.
