FHP investigates deadly crash in Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A 54-year-old driver of a Honda Civic was killed Tuesday night in a crash at the corner of Nolan and Brangus roads in Middleburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Robert Hanson, of Middleburg, was driving north on Nolan about 6:36 p.m. and attempted to make a left turn onto Brangus when he was struck by a 2011 Toyota Tundra that was trying to pass Hanson in a non-passing zone. The Honda was pushed into a ditch.

Clay County Fire-Rescue found Hanson dead. 

The driver of the pickup truck, Patrick Stone, 30, of Callahan, and his passenger were taken to St. Vincent's in Clay County with minor injuries.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
