Annual Amazing Grace Crop Maze opens in Green Cove Springs

Joy Purdy, family get preview of crop maze

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – It is a local family favorite, and starting Friday, Sept. 30, the annual fun begins at the Amazing Grace Crop Maze (AGCM).

The Clay County staple sprawled across 50 acres nestled in the farmlands of Green Cove Springs, has hosted hundreds of visitors from families looking for a day of fun, to school field trips looking for unique ways to teach students about agriculture.

My family and I got a preview of this year's setup.

Our 4- and 6-year-olds had a blast!

New this year, a 40-by-70 foot jump pad, and yes -- adults are welcome to join their children bouncing to their heart's content.

Also new -- TWO corn cribs, allowing smaller kids to enjoy swimming through the hard corn in one, while in the other -- older children, who often like to see who can make the biggest corn splash.

The popular Barnyard Ball Zone, farm animals, cow train, corn hole, a small hay bale maze, pumpkin patch, rat rollers and wagon rides are all back.

So is the main attraction -- the 5-acre corn maze.

The crop is much shorter compared to last year; you'll need to walk about halfway into the maze to reach the 6-foot tall stalks.

However, it's a perfect teachable moment when the 40 to 50 young volunteers on site explain the affects a lack of rainfall has on crops.

The Mosely family who operates the Amazing Grace Crop Maze revealed the maze design this year is in conjunction with Tim Tebow's W15H (WISH) Program, an outreach of the former Gator and NFL quarterback's foundation that fulfills the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Some of the proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the W15H Program.

Tickets are $13 for ages 3 and older.  Children 2 and younger are free.

The AGCM is open to the public from Fridays and Saturdays until October 29.

Some helpful tips:

  • Bring flashlights, bug spray, and sunscreen.
  • Closed-toed shoes are suggested.

Take a look at the flyer in the slide show for more information, or visit the AGCM website.
