The Sheriff's Office announced that it began delivering the AEDs, which were purchased through a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, to patrol deputies on Thursday.

"These are times when patrol deputies are first to arrive at cardiac or drowning scenes, so access to an AED can be the different between," Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said.

The Sheriff's Office said the Finance Bureau will continue to work to obtain more grants and make sure training and maintenance take place.
