The town of Orange Park received grants from Clay County and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the project.

Many people came out to show their support and excitement for the parks reopening.

"It's been a process getting everything worked out. And I'm psyched and everyone else is happy that this went down. This is one of the best concrete parks in all of the Jacksonville area," said Carlos Meteo-Morales.

The park has been open since October of 2001. About 1,800 skaters go to the park annually, according to officials.
