Woman charged with robbing Lake City bank

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A woman accused of holding up the First Federal Bank in Lake City just after it opened Monday was arrested after a brief struggle minutes after the bank was robbed.

Police said a woman entered the bank, presented a note demanding money, then left with an undetermined amount of cash. Officers responding to a silent alert at the bank on U.S. 90 at 9:03 a.m. were setting up a perimeter when they noticed a woman witness descriptions walking through the neighboring Walmart parking lot.

After initial resistance, Shenemeeka Farmer, 38, of Lake City, was taken into custody. She was charged with robbery and grand theft.

Police said they recovered the robbery note and cash taken from the bank and other evidence. Police said no weapon was displayed during the robbery and no one was injured in the robbery.

The Lake City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division responded and took over the investigation, while the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected evidence. The bank was closed for a brief period while officers processed the scene, before being turned back over to bank management.
