WINDERMERE, Fla. - Orange County deputies said they have identified the two teens found dead in connection to officer Robert German's death.
Deputies said Brandon Goode and Alexandria Hollinghurst, both 18 years old from Davenport, were the pair found dead in the bushes.
The shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of Conroy Windermere Road and Horizon Circle.
Windermere Police Chief David Ogden said Officer Robert "Robbie" German, 31, was checking with two individuals walking down the road when he called for officer backup.
"Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orlando Police Department responded," Ogden said. "When officers arrived on scene they found Officer German had been shot and they did a rescue on Officer German."
Four Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies, one Orlando police officer and one Ocoee police officer were part of the tactical rescue German.
German was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center by authorities, where he died.
"Our condolences to the family of Officer Robert German," Ogden said. "Our hearts and thoughts and prayers go out to the family."
Goode and Hollinghurst were found dead across street from the shooting scene at 9350 Conroy/Windermere Road. They are considered suspicious individuals, deputies said.
"It appears they likely committed suicide," said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.
Deputies said they don't believe there are any other suspects in the shooting.
The Sheriff's Office is conducting conduct the investigation into the officer's death.
German had been with the force for five years and had just returned from being on light duty while recovering from surgery. Ogden said German was one of the best officers on the force.
