ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Wildlife officials are helping a dolphin that washed ashore in Ormond Beach.
Beachgoers noticed the dolphin Thursday afternoon and members of the Volusia County Marine Mammal Stranding Team were working late into the evening to stabilize it.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports rescue personnel from SeaWorld were on their way to pick up the dolphin on Thursday night. Officials say it will be rehabilitated at SeaWorld if possible.
Ormond Beach resident John Meade says he spotted the dolphin "tumbling and tossing with the surf." He and other beachgoers worked to stabilize it until help arrived.
The dolphin was placed on wet towels to keep it wet moist until it could be moved.
