Man rescued near 1st Street South, 10th Avenue South

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla.

Lifeguards and fire rescue crews were called to the south end of Jacksonville Beach Sunday afternoon to rescue a man in his mid-30s from the water.

At around 3:45 p.m., crews responded to 1st Street South at 10th Avenue South.

Red Cross Lifeguard Station spokesperson Max Ervanian said lifeguards were called to rescue a distressed swimmer.

The man was transported by the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department to a hospital, Ervanian said.

Ervanian said the man’s condition was non-life-threatening when he was taken to Baptist Beaches Hospital.

Lifeguards said they made responded to 22 calls on Sunday .and had six missing child cases within two hours of each other.

News4Jax meteorologist Mark Collins said there was not a high risk of rip currents at the beach Sunday, but the risk is increased on Monday.
