Electronic waste is collected as part of the normal garbage collection service; however, once these items enter the waste stream with normal garbage, they cannot be recycled and are disposed of in the landfill. Some examples of electronic waste you can bring are televisions (limited three per customer), computer monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, stereo equipment, VCRs, DVDs, desk or mobile phones, power tools and kitchen/ health and beauty appliances.

On the other hand, household hazardous waste cannot be collected curbside with regular trash. Examples of household hazardous waste include paint (limit 25 gallons per customer), varnish, shellac, paint thinners, household and car batteries, thermometers, thermostats, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, antifreeze, aerosol cans, fertilizer, pesticides, acids, gun powder, ammunition, fireworks, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, oil and oil filters, gasoline, etc.

Residents of Duval County are encouraged to drop off their household hazardous waste and e-waste at mobile collection events in order to prevent otherwise recyclable and/or hazardous materials from ending up in the landfill. The mobile collection events are scheduled nine times a year, from November to June, at various locations.
