Largest pet adoption in Jax taking place

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The largest pet adoption event ever held in Jacksonville is happening this weekend thanks to a collaboration among local animal organizations.

More than 800 dogs and cats will be looking for homes at the Mega Pet Adoption Event.

The event, sponsored by PetSmart Charities and Best Friends Animal Society, brings together First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Animal Care and Protective Services, the Jacksonville Humane Society, and many other animal rescue groups from across northeast Florida to find homes for all of their adoptable pets.

Active duty and retired military personnel will not have to pay the $25 adoption fee.
