Mad Dads walk for Jerry Brown

Group and victim's mother canvassed neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Saturday morning the group Mad Dads and friends of Jerry Brown gathered  where the 22-year-old was shot and killed in late January to walk through the neighborhood and ask people who may know anything about the drive-by to speak up and give that information to police.

"The person who killed my son, I want them just to turn them self in. That's all I want. My son was a good Christian person. All he did was go to church and work. That's all he ever did in his life since he was a baby," said Denise Green, Brown's mother.

Standing right near the spot where Jerry Brown was killed, family members gave out shirts honoring him. The group Mad Dads and others went door to door trying to get any information they can about the drive-by shooting that killed the Raines graduate.

"He's gone, but hopefully we can change the future. That's the goal," said Chevie Green, Brown's cousin.

Brown worked as a barista at 3 Layers Cafe and was a gospel singer. His friends said he had a huge impact on those who knew him. They said that he would help anyone if they needed it, no matter what he was doing. The family said they are thankful to have the support of Mad Dads and the community.

"It just makes me happy. Just smiling. I saw so many people and thought "Wow". I'm grateful for them.  We've got to catch them and show them that if you do a crime, you will get caught. This is what it's about, peace and bringing everyone together, " Denise Green said.
