Man drowns in a hot tub at a LaQuinta Inn

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his 20s drowned in the hot tub at a Southside hotel Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers found him faced down in the water at the LaQuinta Inn on Lenoir Avenue around 7:20 p.m.

Investigators said witnesses saw the man drinking earlier in the evening. Investigators said they believe alcohol contributed to the man's death. Investigators also said a friend left the victim at the pool shortly before he was found.

Police said the man was given CPR, but died on the way to a nearby hospital.

Police have not released his identity.
