Man's body found behind Southside laundromat

Jacksonville police investigating death as a homicide

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Homicide detectives are investigating after a man's body was found dead Friday night behind a laundromat on the Southside.

Around 9:30 p.m., Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to a call of an injured man at the coin laundry at the corner of Beach and Southside boulevards, near the Malabar Cocktail Lounge.  He was pronounced dead.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has not released a lot of details about the case, except that they are treating it as a homicide.

Detectives say the person who dialed 911 to report the crime said the victim had a head injury. Police are trying to track down that caller to ask further questions.

"We are not going into describing the victim's injuries right now. We do want the public to know that we are treating this as a homicide," said JSO Sgt. Michael Paul.

The body had been at the scene no more than an hour before it was discovered according to police.

Paul said there were no suspects at this time.

If you have any information regarding this case, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
