Payless donates shoes to Child Guidance Center

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Payless Shoes chose 750 charitable organizations to partner with nationwide to give shoes to children and a local organization is among them. The Child Guidance Center received vouchers from the store so that 75 kids a pair of free shoes.

The Child Guidance Center provides behavioral counseling services to newborn children up until age 21.

Child Guidance Center is an official partner of Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids, an annual giving program from Payless ShoeSource. They are among 750 charitable agencies representing all 50 states in the United States, as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and 11 Latin American countries.

The Child Guidance Center will be distributing merchandise certificates for children's shoes to the families on their client list at the River City Market Place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18th.

This is the sixth year of the Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program. Center officials say although studies show that properly fitting shoes are important for children's health and development, a striking number of children don't own a pair of shoes that fit. The Child Guidance Center says it is working to remedy that here in Florida.

The Center says it's mission is investing in the community by providing counseling and support services to assist children and families in reaching their fullest potential.

By helping families who struggle to provide their children with basic essentials on a daily basis, the Child Guidance Center says by partnering with the Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids Program, they hope to relieve some of the stress parents feel and bring joy to as many children as possible.
