Police: Man attacks aunt at garage sale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An Atlantic Beach man made his first appearance before a Duval County judge Sunday on charges he attacked his aunt at a garage sale at his home on Saturday.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigators said Brian Joesph Lagitch, 39, admitted to hitting his aunt, sending her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lagitch was arrested and charged with felony battery causing great bodily harm.

According to a police report, Lagitch's mother, Karen Lagitch, told police she heard her son and her sister, Nancy Waldron, 63, arguing in the front yard of Brian Lagitch's home at 91 13th St. West Saturday afternoon.

Karen Lagitch told officers she went outside and discovered Waldron "...bleeding from a cut near her eye and her glasses broken."

The report said Brian Lagitch told his mother that Waldron, "had pushed him and he struck her in the face."

Waldron was taken to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

Brian Lagitch was ordered held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be in court on Dec. 26.
