Robber suspect in custody; search for 2nd robber

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for a second suspect who may have been involved in a robbery and attack that happened late Sunday night outside a Westside drug store store.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man was leaving the CVS store on 4475 San Juan Avenue just before midnight and two men followed him out to the parking lot.

Detective C.J. Nieto said the suspects pretended to ask the victim for directions to Cassat Avenue, then started punching and kicking the man.

"They went into his pockets took his wallet and fled on foot," said Nieto.

The responding officers were able to get still video of the suspects inside the store, which they passed on to other officers. Shortly after, they found the suspects running down the block of Lake Shore Boulevard, according to police.

"They were able to apprehend one of the suspects, took him into custody. The black male was able to elude them. Police interviewed the white male and he provided details about the incident and is being arrested for the robbery," said Nieto.

Police said the victim, whose name was not released, was bleeding from the side of his head and knee.  He was treated and released from the hospital Monday morning.

Although the first suspect was in custody, police have not provided his name.  Detectives described the second suspect as a black man in his 20s, 5-foot 10-inches to 6-feet tall with dreadlocks and wearing all black clothing.
