Semi smashes into JSO cruiser

All lanes of I-95 northbound reopened before 7 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a crash where a semi smashed into the back of a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser early Friday morning.

According to FHP, the crash happened after 4 a.m. on I-95 northbound between University Boulevard and Emerson Street.

JSO said no injuries were reported.

Witnesses told News4Jax that the semi appeared to have crashed all the way into the back seat of the police cruiser.

FHP closed two left lanes of I-95 northbound between University Boulevard and Emerson Street for hours while they investigated the crash.

All lanes of I-95 were reopened just before 7 a.m. when the semi truck and police cruiser were towed away.
