Man arrested for stabbing dog

Dog is being treated after suffering a skull fracture

OCALA, Fla. - A dog is recovering after police say an Ocala man beat and stabbed an American boxer/ Labrador mix. 

According to the Ocala Star-Banner, the dog belonged to 49-year-old Steven Scott Fleming's girlfriend.  The paper reports authorities say Fleming stabbed the dog three times. 

The county's animal services is treating the dog who suffered a skull fracture. 

Neighbors told police they heard commotion and then heard the dog's cries.  They say the man was begging to be let inside by his girlfriend. 

When officers arrived they saw Fleming walk away.  They say he took off when they asked him to stop, but they caught up with him. 

Police have charged Fleming with aggravated animal cruelty.
