Man struck, killed by cargo train in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach police say a man was struck and killed by a southbound Florida East Coast Railway cargo train.

The man was hit about 8:30 p.m. Monday. Officials say the train was traveling about 35 miles per hour when it hit the man.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that police believe the man was homeless. Police were attempting to notify family members late Monday.

Police say the train's conductor/engineer reported the accident.
