LAKELAND, Fla. – A missing 12-year-old Central Florida girl was found dead early Tuesday at a location that formerly served as a cement company, deputies said.
The body of Rebecca Ann Sedwick, of Lakeland, was found lying on the ground at 135 Arizona Avenue in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Rebecca's mother saw her leave their home around 6:45 a.m. Monday and thought she was headed to a bus stop to go to school. Rebecca never got on the bus, however and her school books were found at home, deputies said.
Her mother reported Rebecca missing around 7 p.m. Monday after she didn't return home, according to deputies.
Detectives found the girl's body around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
No other details have been released.
A death investigation is ongoing.
